Early Life and Education
Alexander Andreyevich Prokhanov was born on February 26, 1938, in Tbilisi, Georgia.
After completing secondary school, he graduated from the Sergo Ordzhonikidze Moscow Aviation Institute in 1960. Prokhanov is fluent in English.
Career Beginnings
Prokhanov initially worked as an engineer and later as a forester in Karelia and the Moscow region.
From 1960 to 1970, he served as a journalist for the newspapers "Pravda" and "Literaturnaya Gazeta."
Literary Breakthrough
In 1971, Prokhanov published his first non-fiction books, "I Go My Way" and "Letters from the Village." He was admitted to the Union of Writers of the USSR in 1972.
